I got this tire inflator because I didn't want to be dependent on my local gas station to fill my tires up. Last time I went there the air compressor was broken, so I finally bought this.

This unit hooks directly up to your car's battery. My 2010 Honda Accord only puts out 10 amps through the DC outlet inside the car, so I decided to get this one rather than similar units that I have seen that hook up inside your car rather than the battery. I have read other reviews about some of these inflators blowing fuses in the cars, so I was aware of that issue ahead of time.

After connecting the clamps to the battery and turning on my car, I filled up all my tires just to top them off. The compressor is relatively quiet (certainly not loud by my definition) and added about 2 psi to each tire in about 10 seconds for each tire. The unit was a little warm after all four tires, but certainly not anywhere near hot to hurt my hands from touching the metal heatsink. It probably gets hotter if you leave it on for longer, but for periodic tire inflation maintenance, it seems like it is rugged enough to handle it.

The nozzle is a clampdown type which also has a release switch. You press the release switch once to lock it into the release position, and press it again to close it back up.

Most of the parts are made of metal, not plastic. It does have rubber feet on the bottom to absorb the vibrations though. The length of the hose and DC power cord put together is just enough to reach all four tires on my car comfortably. The bag that comes with it fits all of the parts with some room to spare (I also keep my tire guage in there now).

All things considered, I think this is a pretty good unit. The construction feels good, which is reassuring since I had another tire inflator a while back that did not last long. It does everything I expected. More Reviews ....

My main use has been for maintaining air pressure in vehicle tires (fairly light duty inflating). I have not yet used this product on other inflatables.

Electrical cord is a decent length and wraps around the base of the unit for storage (not shown in picture).

Filling hose is also of decent length and stores in a compartment - additional hose fittings are included. Altogether the unit is very compact and stores easily.

The air pressure gauge is some what accurate but I would only use it as an estimate - it is not detailed enough to determine the difference between say 42 and 44 psi. Obviously a quality tire gauge should be used.

Considering you're compressing air the unit is loud be not overly so. As can be expected it is not as fast as an air compressor found at gas stations.

Great value for the convenience - I can foresee it not being the choice for heavy duty inflation needs, however. More Reviews ....

I am upgrading from a cheap unit that was slow and noisy. After researching a number of air compressors online, I decided to purchase this unit. Just received it and tried it out. I am really pleased by this unit:

- Incredibly quite and stable -- it won't jump around like my previous unit;
- Quick inflation -- I tried to top off on my 31" truck tire. I did not time it, but I can see the needle moving at 33 psi. For bicycle tires, it takes only seconds;
- Reasonable power draw -- it did not blow the fuse on my 04 4Runner, and I don't have problem starting the truck after testing the unit without engine running to fill 3 bicycles and top off a truck tire;
- Accurate gauge -- I tested it against my other tire gauge and the readings are practically the same at 33 psi;

I'm writing this review because the Amazon description doesn't inform you that you NEED 15 amps to power the device as clearly stated in the owner's manual. Unfortunately, I didn't know this before purchase so when I plugged it into my Honda Pilot which only supplies 10 amps, it didn't work. I called Slime customer service who confirmed that all their products require 15 amps.

Check your car owner's manual to make sure your power socket supplies 15 amps!

I'm giving it 5 stars because the device itself looks very high quality with a nice storage case. Slime customer service was also speedy and helpful. Too bad the Amazon item description was inadequate.

I'm one of those people who some times has trouble getting the alignment just right with the traditional "stick" tire gauges with the angled chuck. The EZ Air Tire Gauge makes the procedure a cinch, though -- straight in and out, with no more than a puff of air from the tire when you attach or detach it. The gauge itself seems pretty accurate and the entire assemble feels quite rugged. For use as a pressure gauge, I'm QUITE satisifed with it.

It also has a connector at the other hand that lets you inflate the tire through the gauge. It works with the air hoses you find at most gas stations as well as the screw-on connectors on, for example, the TyphoonMax TX300 portable compressor units. I haven't used this with the gas station air lines myself, but I have used it with my TyphoonMax compressor. The gauge will not give a steady reading while the compressor is on and inflating the tire. The gauge needle vibrates quickly up and down in a blur between two readings while the compressor is on, but you can still see the pressure increase looking at the lower reading of the blurred needle. You can also just switch the compressor off from time to time to check the pressure for sure. It's certainly much easier than swapping back and forth between the compressor and the gauge. The connector on the EZ gauge is probably the only real complaint I have. While it attaches and detaches easily from the tire for quick readings, the spring-loaded piece that actually holds it in place on the valve stem (when you need hands free operation, like for working the compressor hose) will some times not grip very securely and you'll have to jiggle or remove and retry it. It's never taking me more than a couple of tries to get a secure fit, though.

Finally, as a minor nit (but I feel worth noting), the gauge is oddly shaped and it may be hard finding space in, say, your glove compartment or other confined storage space. It isn't BIG, just...oddly shaped. More Reviews ....

Q Industries MF-1035 Santa Ana Portable High Volume 12V Air Compressor Customer Reviews :

I have used another portable air compressor before, and it sounded like WWIII was beginning. I also had to keep a foot planted on it to keep it still. Not the same story with this compressor. Yes it makes noise. Yes it vibrates. They all do, but with this compressor it is all done at an acceptable level. A reasonable amount of power lead, which reaches all 4 wheels of a 2007 Toyota Camry. I have to get the compact spare out of the trunk to fill that but that is not a problem.
Unlike some other pumps, this does not have a plastic lever to clip the air line onto the tire valve. You press the line to the valve and screw the sleeve on. This is all made of brass. It can be a little fiddly but again, I don't consider that a problem. In fact, I found a reason to make it a positive. If you are only topping up a tire, there is no need to screw onto the valve at all. Just hold it onto the valve with steady pressure, the same as you would do at a gas station. Regarding those who feel that you lose pressure while unscrewing the sleeve from the valve, then as another reviewer stated you can slightly overfill. Personally, if you hold the airline onto the valve as you unscrew then it releases practically nothing. Then simply whip away the airline once completely unscrewed.
It all packs away in a hard wearing nylon carry bag that is supplied, and allows you to keep the nozzle accessories with the compressor should you need it for other jobs such as rafts etc.
So, for the working noise, vibration, store-ability, and the budget price I'm pleased with my purchase. It does what I need it to which is to keep the tires at the correct pressures on my car.
Final note. ALL gauges that are fitted onto the pumps have a discrepancy tolerance. Always use a separate, accurate gauge to check the pressures. Once you know if yours is over or under reading and by how much then you can allow for that on the gauge on the pump, but I'd still check that that doesn't change over time. I've had a VIAIR 70P for quite some time and that unit is great for the small pump that it is. When I needed another small portable compressor that was able to be powered by a cigarette lighter power socket, I noticed that VIAIR had a new model and got one. This one is almost twice as fast as the 70P and every bit as quiet. The unit doesn't walk around when you're using it and the brass screw-on tire chuck makes for almost no air loss. The LED power indicator is a nice touch and I found the air pressure gauge to be spot-on as long as I turn the compressor off to check pressure. In all, another nice unit. -I just wish this was available when I got my 70P. Side note: don't throw away the box - its a means of storage since this unit doesn't come with a carry bag. I just received the MV-50, and it is a well-built, compact unit with good convenience features. The heavy duty nylon carrying case and 15 foot hose are a pleasant surprise for a modestly priced unit.

The rated output is 72 litres per mimute, or about 2.5 cubit feet. The delivery pressure isn't stated for that volume. The maximum rated output pressure is 120 PSI. These are ratings on par with a light duty compressor operated from AC wall power. The owner's manual is a bit vague on duty cycle, staing that a cool-down is required after 30 minutes of operation. The MV-50 can inflate a flat car tire in about three to four minutes, so there should be no need to worry about duty cycle for most applications.

Several people remarked they wish the MV-50 came with a cigarette lighter attachment. The MV-50's motor draws up to 30 amps, which would melt the contacts or at least blow the fuse on most lighter sockets. For instance, the 12 volt socket on my Toyota truck is rated and fused for 15 amps.

The MV-50 comes with clips for attaching dierectly to the 12 volt battery to maximimize the current it can draw and to make sure it receives full battery voltage. As rated, the MV-50's motor should develop 3/4 horse power or more. This assures plenty of power for rapid inflation.

Another reviewer remarked about finding the MV-50 for only $25. That was apparently a short-lived sale at Pep Boys, where the wrong model was briefly discounted. I think they meant to discount the normally less expensive MV-30. Even at the typical $69-$70 price, the MV-50 is a good value.

Plusses: Modest cost. Included accessories and carry bag. 12 volt portabilty. Well manufactured. Long hose. Air chuck makes positive connection by screwing to tire's Schraeder valve. Fairly quiet operation. Generous CFM and pressure.

Minuses: Needs direct clip-on to battery. The quick-connect fitting is slightly different than the coupling on most air tools. The air chuck must be screwed on to the tire's Schraeder valve. More Reviews ....
